Budding orators shine at Inter-house English declamation contest

The students of Apeejay School, Model Town, participate in a thrilling public speaking competition with confidence and conviction

An Inter-house English Declamation Competition was recently organised at Apeejay School, Model Town. It provided students with a platform to showcase their confidence, articulation, and public speaking skills. The event was met with immense enthusiasm, with students representing different houses engaging in a spirited battle of words. The competition aimed to develop strong communication abilities, a vital skill for young learners.

The participants delivered powerful speeches on a variety of topics, each one demonstrating a deep understanding of their subject. Their eloquent presentations, expressive gestures, and stage presence captivated the audience. Through their speeches, they highlighted the power of persuasive language and effective communication.

The competition was divided into two groups: Group I (Classes VI-VII) and Group II (Classes VIII-IX). Each speaker demonstrated remarkable confidence and passion, making it a tough challenge for the judges to determine the winners.

Encouraging healthy competition

The event not only refined students’ public speaking abilities but also encouraged a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among the houses. The young speakers put in immense effort to prepare their speeches, focusing on delivery, clarity, and engagement. Their dedication was evident in every word they spoke, leaving the audience and judges impressed.

The esteemed panel of judges, Ms Namrata Sharma (Headmistress) and Ms Meeta Oberoi commended the participants for their outstanding performances. They applauded their preparation, confidence, and ability to connect with the audience, making the event a truly inspiring and enriching experience for all.

Meet the winners

The competition saw fierce participation, and the winners emerged as follows:

Group I (Classes VI-VII): First position: Myra Seth (Class VI, Shivalik House), second position: Aaradhya (Class VII, Vindhya House) and Vanya (Class VII, Shivalik House), and third position: Sarah Jain (Class VI) and Sanchit (Class VII, Aravali House)

Group II (Classes VIII-IX): First position: Abhiraj Aggarwal (Class IX, Shivalik House), second position: Sashmith Kumar (Class VIII, Nilgiri House), and third position: Gauraang Arora (Class IX, Vindhya House)

The winners were awarded certificates by Ms Priyanka Grover, Officiating Principal, Apeejay School Model Town. She lauded their outstanding performances, emphasising the importance of effective communication in today’s world. She also encouraged all participants to continue honing their oratory skills, as they are essential tools for success in various fields.

The competition reinforced the significance of articulation, persuasion, and stage presence — qualities that will aid them in their academic and professional journeys.
