Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar celebrated the vibrant festival of Lohri with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour on its campus, bringing together faculty members, staff, and students in a joyful expression of unity and tradition. The celebration reflected the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and reinforced the institute’s commitment to nurturing cultural values alongside academic excellence.

The campus was beautifully adorned to mark the occasion, creating a festive ambience that resonated with warmth, positivity, and togetherness. Lohri, which symbolises the harvest season, prosperity, and new beginnings, was observed with traditional rituals that highlighted the spirit of gratitude and renewal. The lighting of the Lohri bonfire became the focal point of the celebration, drawing enthusiastic participation from the campus community.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, emphasised the significance of cultural celebrations in institutional life. He remarked that festivals like Lohri play an important role in connecting individuals to their cultural roots while fostering harmony, inclusivity, and shared values within the academic fraternity. He added that such occasions help strengthen interpersonal bonds and create a positive campus environment where learning extends beyond classrooms.

Faculty members and staff offered traditional items such as rewri, gachak, peanuts, and popcorn into the sacred fire, symbolising prayers for prosperity, peace, and collective well-being. The ritual underscored the importance of gratitude and hope, reinforcing the cultural essence of Lohri as a festival of renewal and optimism.

The celebration was further enlivened by lively folk music that filled the campus with energy and cheer. Participants enthusiastically joined in spontaneous traditional dances, adding colour and vibrancy to the event. The rhythmic beats and joyful movements created an atmosphere of celebration that was both engaging and rejuvenating for everyone present.

Students actively participated in the festivities, appreciating the opportunity to experience and celebrate cultural traditions within the campus. For many, the event served as a refreshing break from routine academic activities, offering a moment of relaxation, cultural immersion, and social interaction.

The Lohri celebration at AIMETC successfully fostered a strong sense of community bonding, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate shared cultural values. It highlighted the institute’s holistic approach to education—one that recognises the importance of cultural awareness, emotional well-being, and social cohesion in shaping well-rounded individuals.

Overall, the Lohri festivities stood as a meaningful reminder of the importance of preserving traditions while nurturing a vibrant and inclusive academic environment, making the celebration a memorable experience for the entire AIMETC community.
