At Apeejay School, Nerul, Bagless Day was more than just a break from books; it was an immersive learning experience that took education beyond the classroom walls. Designed to promote experiential learning, it encourages students to explore, create, and collaborate while developing essential life skills. For Class V, the day offered an exciting blend of activities designed to enhance creativity, awareness, social responsibility, and teamwork.

The morning began on an inspiring note with a thought-provoking video on the life and vision of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, instilling motivation and a sense of purpose among the students. Energised by this message, they moved on to a plantation drive within the school premises, where they planted vegetable saplings. This hands-on activity not only promoted environmental awareness but also taught the value of nurturing life.

Following the morning break, the energy shifted to the world of history and patriotism. Students came dressed as renowned freedom fighters, each delivering short yet impactful speeches about the personalities they represented. The role play was both informative and emotionally engaging, helping students connect with India’s rich legacy of courage and sacrifice.

The creative streak continued with a Best Out of Waste activity. Armed with plastic bottles and recyclable materials, students designed attractive and functional pen stands — turning potential waste into usable items. This activity reinforced the importance of recycling and creative problem-solving.

Post-lunch, the spirit of collaboration took centre stage in an Inter-house Collage-making Competition on the theme Unity in Diversity. The teams worked enthusiastically, blending colours, textures, and ideas to represent India’s cultural richness.

The day ended on a responsible note with a cleanliness drive. Students took the lead in tidying up their classrooms and surrounding areas, embracing the values of hygiene, responsibility, and respect for shared spaces.

By the end of the day, it was evident that Bagless Day had successfully combined fun with meaningful learning. Students returned home with not only joyful memories but also a deeper understanding of environmental care, patriotism, creativity, and teamwork — skills and values that will guide them far beyond their school years.
