Manasvi Mittal is gifted when it comes to sketching. Though she can ace all art forms, her hand is naturally skilled when it comes to the paper and pencil. And like all artists should be, she is hungry for more. The class 9 student from Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg says she aims to learn gouache painting among other forms. In this week’s Aspiring Artist interview, the young prodigy explains why art is the most relaxing activity for her.
Read edited excerpts:
When did art come into your life?
Art came at a very early stage in my life. I developed a keen interest in drawing and painting since class 3. Art gave me such joy I simply cannot explain.
That is delightful to know. Which art form is your favourite?
Any new art form which I learn becomes my favourite at that time. It is the case because I have an avid desire to learn more and more.
How does your school support you as an artist?
All the teachers encourage and appreciate my artworks. Our drawing teacher Anjana ma’am motivates me the most and helps me improve my work. I am grateful to her for helping me progress.

What is art for you?
Art is a skill that relaxes my mind and makes me happy. Whenever I draw, I find myself single-mindedly devoted to it.
How much time does it take you to complete an artwork?
An ordinary artwork takes roughly 3 hours of time. However, certain art forms such as Mandala art often take a bit longer. I love to portray the scenic beauty of nature in most of my artworks. Nature inspires me the most and is one of my treasured themes.
Your upcoming artwork
I am presently focussed on charcoal sketching. So work in progress!
Any new artform you wish to learn?
I wish to learn Gouache artform, oil painting and portrait making.
Lastly, what are the other hobbies you pursue besides art?
Well, I love to play the keyboard and vibe to my favourite songs.
