Apeejay Stya University hosts blood donation camp; aims at social responsibility and community engagement

Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram under the collective banner of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), and the Rotaract Club of ASU Gurugram, successfully organised a Blood Donation Camp at the university campus. The event reflected the institution’s deep-rooted commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Vir Singh, who praised the collaborative efforts of NSS and the Rotaract Club for leading such a meaningful initiative for the welfare of humanity. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Moinuddin, Prof. Ananda Padhan, and Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal (DSW), all of whom appreciated the student-driven approach behind the event.

The blood donation drive received an overwhelming response, with 120+ individuals registering, and 60 units of blood successfully collected. Students, faculty members, university staff, and residents from neighbouring villages participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating a strong collective resolve toward contributing to societal good.

The Rotary Blood Centre, New Delhi, partnered as the official medical support team for the camp. Their representatives lauded Apeejay Stya University for planning and executing the event with precision and care. They commended the motivation, cooperation, and discipline displayed by the donors and volunteers throughout the day.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Rotary Blood Centre team was felicitated by Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, DSW. The occasion also recognised the winners of the quiz competition conducted alongside the camp, as well as the dedicated organising committee members of NSS and the Rotaract Club of ASU Gurugram. Blood donors were awarded certificates and community service hours for their contribution.

The camp’s smooth coordination was led by Rtr. Ayush Bhatt (SBS) from RACASUG and Himanshu Ranjan (SLS) from NSS as the Student Coordinators. The quiz competition was efficiently managed by Rtr. Aryan Pandey and Rtr. Som Sarth from the School of Biosciences. The entire RACASUG team, including President Rtr. Srishti Vashisth (SBS), Secretary Rtr. Nahida Parveen (SBS), and core team members Rtr. Aditya Anant (SOMS) and Rtr. Saumyatika Gantayat (SBS), contributed actively to the event’s success. Faculty coordinators Dr. Vijay Kumar (SOE) and Mr. Adnan Irshad (SLS) provided vital guidance throughout the planning and execution stages.

The event stood as a testament to Apeejay Stya University’s vision of fostering compassionate leadership and strengthening community connections. The organising committee expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chancellor Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Neha Berlia, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vijay Vir Singh for their consistent encouragement and mentorship toward initiatives aimed at the common good.
