
When it comes to art and culture, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) is unbeatable. The PG Department of Multimedia of ACFA recently organised an exhibition of Smartphone Photography on the theme “Rangeelo Rajasthan: Padharo Sa” at Dr Stya Paul Art Gallery, Virsa Vihar in Jalandhar.
This exhibition was based on photography competitions held at different places during the student visit at Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer tour. Mr. Deepak Bali, Advisor, Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi was present as the chief guest at this exhibition and Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Director, Apeejay Education, presided over as the guest of honour.
Welcoming the chief guest, Mr. Deepak Bali, Dr. Sucharita Sharma said, “The presence of Mr. Deepak Bali, who has made his distinct identity in the field of art, literature and politics, will surely encourage and inspire our students.”
Subsequently, addressing the students, Mr. Deepak Bali expressed, “The presence of Dr. Sucharita Sharma is like a dense tree in the field of art, under whose shade the flourishing artists are today making the entire India fragrant.”
He also said, “Today’s youth are in the race to go into engineering, medical and have a dream of settling abroad. But one should also pursue art and their passion.”
The students captured the beauty and culture of Rajasthan while their photos expressed the architectural grandeur, its history, folk culture through their cameras and also the pain and anxiety of the camel, called the ship of the desert.
In this smartphone exhibition, Jasmeet Kaur won the first prize, Akshita Gumbar won the second prize and Nimish Khosla got the third prize. Apart from this, Renvanshi, Khyati, Pranav and Sukhmanpreet Kaur were given consolation prizes for their excellent photography.
In the end, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, expressed her gratitude to everyone and said that such programmes are organised successfully only with the constant guidance of Mrs. Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education. Dr. Dhingra further shared, “Mr. Deepak Bali always gives us suggestions to move forward in the development of art and Dr. Sucharita Sharma constantly gives us her constant support.”
Finally, she congratulated students for their incredible photography skills. She praised the efforts of Mr. Varinder Saggu, Mr. Ankiit, Mr. Dipitesh and Ms. Rachita of the Department of Multimedia for successfully organising this exhibition.
