Literature has the magical power to shape young minds, build empathy, and open new worlds of imagination. Celebrating this spirit, the Primary Wing of Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad recently observed Literary Week with great excitement, joy, and active participation from students. The initiative was designed not just as a creative break from routine academics but as a powerful platform to enhance language development, public speaking skills, and self-confidence in children.

Taking inspiration from the timeless words of Dr. Seuss – “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”, the school curated a host of engaging activities that brought the world of books alive for young learners.

One of the key attractions of the week was the Mono-Acting competition, where students enacted characters from their favourite books and stories. This not only allowed them to showcase their acting talents but also gave them an opportunity to express emotions, explore different personas, and practice the art of storytelling. Whether portraying brave heroes, witty animals, or magical beings, the students impressed with their voice modulation, gestures, and imaginative interpretation.

Such activities play a crucial role in developing communication skills and stage confidence among children at an early age. They also nurture emotional intelligence by encouraging students to step into someone else’s shoes—literally and metaphorically.

Favourite Character Dress-Up:

Adding a visual delight to the week was the Favourite Character Dress-Up event. Students came dressed as their most-loved literary figures – be it Harry Potter, Cinderella, Sherlock Holmes, or Tenali Raman. With detailed costumes, expressive dialogues, and charming presence, they recreated their chosen characters with great enthusiasm. The activity encouraged creative thinking, character analysis, and presentation skills.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Bookland Parade, a joyful procession where children marched as storybook characters, transforming the school campus into a live storybook. With props, placards, and role-play, the event became a colourful tribute to the world of fiction and fantasy.

Through these thoughtfully designed activities, the Literary Week at Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad succeeded in igniting curiosity, enhancing vocabulary, and strengthening the students’ connection with books. The celebration reflected the school’s vision to promote holistic learning by integrating arts, language, and creativity into everyday education.
