On the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay DiwasApeejay School, Saket organised a stirring commemorative event to pay tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives during the Kargil War of 1999. The event served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for the nation’s sovereignty and aimed to imbue students with a deep respect for the armed forces.

The day was made memorable with the presence of two distinguished guests: Retired Wing Commander R. S. Johar, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, and Mr. Pawan Kumar, SDM District South, as the Special Guest. Their presence added great inspiration and emotional depth to the programme.

Words That Stirred Young Hearts

He also spoke about the toil, sweat and blood of martyrs that protects the freedom we often take for granted, urging students to value the peace and safety they enjoy and contribute meaningfully to society.

The highlight of the day was the powerful address by Wing Commander R. S. Johar, who shared real-life anecdotes from his tenure in the Indian Air Force. His stories, drawn from the frontline, were not only captivating but also deeply educational.

He emphasised the true essence of patriotism, not just waving the flag on special days, but living by values of discipline, selflessness, and national pride every day. He urged students to rise above individualism and embrace their responsibilities as future citizens and changemakers.

Students Reflect and Learn

The session deeply resonated with the students, offering them a real-world context to the values they read about in textbooks. Many expressed that the interaction helped them better understand the price of freedom and the importance of living a life with purpose and values.

Through storytelling and shared experiences, students were encouraged to think critically about how they can contribute to society. Whether by being responsible students, active community members, or future professionals, the message was clear – every small action rooted in integrity matters.
