Apeejay School, Saket, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with immense patriotic fervour, joy and enthusiasm. The school campus came alive as students, teachers and staff joined together to pay tribute to India’s freedom fighters and reflect on the values of unity, sacrifice and courage.

A day of pride and learning

The celebration began with a warm welcome, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony amidst rain showers. Braving the weather, Principal, Dr. Sujeet Eric Masih, along with the Chief Guest, Col. Ajay Verma, Head Counter Drones Desk of the Army Air Defence, hoisted the tricolour. The entire school community joined in singing the National Anthem with pride as slogans for the motherland echoed across the campus. The moment beautifully highlighted that patriotism knows no bounds – not even the rain.

In his address, Dr. Masih encouraged students to remain rooted in India’s cultural heritage while preparing themselves to be responsible global citizens. He reminded them that national festivals are not just about celebration, but also about understanding the responsibilities that come with freedom.

Colourful student performances

Students across different classes presented a vibrant sequence of performances that reflected their creativity and respect for the nation. The pre-primary wing charmed the audience with a melodious group song. This was followed by a lively dance performance, a soul-stirring Hindi poem, and an inspiring English speech. A medley of patriotic songs performed by the senior students added to the spirit of the day, leaving everyone moved and inspired.

Words of inspiration

The Chief Guest, Col. Verma, delivered a powerful speech, urging students to stay disciplined, work hard, and contribute positively to the country. He emphasised that true service to the nation comes from dedication, integrity and compassion. A memento was presented to him as a token of gratitude for his inspiring presence.

The Head Boy and Head Girl proposed the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of teachers, staff and students who made the event memorable. The celebration concluded with the School Song, marking a heartfelt tribute to India’s glorious journey of freedom.
