Apeejay School, Saket Celebrates the Sacred Side of Maths

Mathematics is more than numbers—it’s the language of the universe. From the symmetry of leaves to the curves of mountains and the architecture of temples, geometry gives form to the world around us. Embracing this powerful idea, Apeejay School, Saket hosted Math Quest, an inter-school event designed to dissolve the fear of Math and elevate its spiritual and creative essence.

The event featured a series of thoughtfully curated competitions across different age groups, combining hands-on learning, abstract thinking, and real-world applications. The central theme of the fest—Sacred Geometry—offered students a unique lens to view Math as both a practical and philosophical discipline.

Class III: Sacred-O-GeoArt – Where Creativity Meets Calculation

Students of Class III unleashed their imagination in Sacred-O-GeoArt, where they were challenged to design photo frames using geometric shapes within an hour.

The results were vibrant and inventive—frames made with matchsticks, cardboard, paper mâché, and recycled materials. Some showcased family trees, others featured birds, yin-yang symbols, and even original poems on nature conservation placed at the heart of their artwork. It was a joyful reminder that math, too, can have a soul.

Class XI–XII: Extempore – Speaking the Language of Shapes

Senior students participated in a compelling Math Extempore on the theme of Geometry. Each contestant picked a chit backstage, prepared for two minutes, and then spoke for one.

Their insights were astonishingly mature—ranging from the cultural influence of geometry in Asian architecture to the real-world implications of concave and convex lenses. It was an articulate and spontaneous display of mathematical thought as it exists beyond textbooks.

Class VIII–IX: Triangle Your Bridge – Engineering with Angles

In Triangle Your Bridge, middle schoolers turned into structural engineers. Using only triangular shapes—equilateral, isosceles, and scalene—they crafted bridges of remarkable design and logic.

The event was a lesson in applied geometry, as students showcased an intuitive understanding of weight, balance, and structural integrity. Their demo models stood tall—both literally and conceptually.

Class IV–V: Rang-O-Sacred Geometry – The Spiritual Blueprint

In this beautifully conceptualised event, student duos illustrated how geometry reflects the sacred patterns of life, the cosmos, and spirituality.

Their drawings depicted everything from the five elements of nature and Gayatri Yantras to 3D representations of life and death—each carefully composed using geometric design. The artwork displayed deep symbolic meaning and a surprising spiritual maturity.

Event judge and renowned botanist Dr. Moksh Mahajan shared his awe:

“Geometry makes the world around us. It’s a sacred discipline. The very code of creation lies in these patterns. What these children have done is not just Math—it’s a celebration of the power behind it.”

Class VI–VII: Math Crossword – Solving the Shape Puzzle

Students tackled a specially crafted crossword puzzle that tested their knowledge of geometry in a fun and engaging way. It was an exciting challenge that combined lateral thinking with classroom learning. This was a perfect synergy between English and Math and proved the multi-dimensionality of the subjects.

Teacher’s Paper Presentation – Preserving the Geometry of the Universe

In a fitting finale, Ms. Vandana Arora, TGT Mathematics from Apeejay School, Pitampura, delivered a compelling paper titled “Sacred Geometry in Architecture – Innovative Teaching Techniques.”

She explained,

“What sets Sacred Geometry apart is the belief that nature’s patterns carry spiritual meaning. They represent the architecture of the universe. Teaching this isn’t just about Math—it’s about honouring a legacy that connects balance, intention, and inner awareness.”

A Celebration of Numbers, Nature, and the Divine

Math Quest 2024 was not just a competition—it was a celebration of knowledge, perspective, and imagination. Apeejay School, Saket once again proved that education, when delivered with purpose and creativity, can awaken a lifelong love for learning and a deeper understanding of the world we live in.
