Apeejay School, Rama Mandi in Jalandhar celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm. The event organised under the leadership of Principal Mr. A.K. Sharma aimed to honour the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, who is fondly remembered as “Chacha Nehru” by children across the country. The day is celebrated every year to recognise the importance of children in building the future of the nation and to emphasise the role of education in shaping their lives.
The celebrations began with a vibrant assembly conducted by the students of Class IV. Through a creative enactment, the students highlighted the importance of ‘Real Education’ in life. Their performance was designed to inspire their peers to value not just academic learning but also the development of life skills and values. The assembly featured a variety of activities, including fun games, insightful talks, and performances that stressed the significance of child rights and holistic growth. The event culminated with an energetic dance performance, which filled the air with excitement and joy.
In his speech, Principal Mr. A.K. Sharma addressed the students with warm wishes, encouraging them to aim high and pursue their dreams. He highlighted the role of education in transforming lives and shaping responsible citizens. Vice Principal Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat also shared her thoughts with the students. She reminded them of Pandit Nehru’s vision for India’s youth and emphasised the day’s theme: Inspire, Empower, Educate. Celebrate Childhood, Celebrate Hope! She urged the students to embrace their childhood with joy and optimism. Ms Bhat also touched upon the essence of childhood, sharing her belief that, “Children are the most beautiful of all living beings, possessing the inherent qualities of innocence, joy, love, wonder, mischief, inquisitiveness, delight, adventure, curiosity, and endless potential.” Her words highlighted the immense value and potential of every child.
Children’s Day is more than just a celebration of childhood—it is a reminder of the rights of children and the importance of nurturing their potential. In line with this, Apeejay School reinforced its commitment to providing a nurturing and empowering environment for every child.
To add a touch of sweetness to the celebrations, chocolates were distributed to all the students. The event successfully combined education, entertainment, and inspiration, leaving the students motivated and united in celebrating the innocence and potential of childhood.
