When Ms Prerna Acharya enrolled her daughter Neera Sharma, a Kindergarten student in Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, it wasn’t just about academics – it was about finding a nurturing environment where her child could grow in every way. Having known about the Apeejay Education since her school days in 1998, Ms Prerna had already witnessed the ethos and excellence of the group firsthand. In this heartwarming conversation, she shares her journey of choosing Apeejay for her daughter, reliving her childhood, and why she considers this school her greatest parenting ally. Read edited excerpts:
What made you confident that Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park was the right fit for your child?
I’ve known the Apeejay group since I was a student myself. My first experience was at a sports meet where I lost my gold medal to Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park students! That stayed with me. Years later, I knew this was the school for my daughter – not just for the academics, but for the playground, the environment, and the values.
What stood out to you when researching schools?
I visited 14 schools before finalising this one. I checked every playground personally. Most were enclosed or had poor sunlight. For me, physical activity is non-negotiable – it builds strength, confidence, teamwork, and social skills. Apeejay offered all of this. I didn’t make it the first time. But I knew I wanted this school, so I kept at it. Eventually, it all worked out. It felt like a personal victory!

How has the school supported your parenting journey?
Apeejay has been my backbone. There were times I was managing work, home, and parenting alone while my husband was abroad. The school was a constant source of support and structure for Neera.
Tell us about a special memory at school.
During Sports Day, Neera was heartbroken that she didn’t win. Later, for a fashion show, she decided she wanted to practice and win. We prepared just like we would for a work event – costumes, props, rehearsals. She changed everything herself last minute, and she won! That moment taught her resilience and independence.
Your message to fellow parents?
Be involved. The teachers give their 100%, but it’s our job too. Your child is your responsibility – emotionally, physically, socially. Parenting is a shared journey. Trust the school, and invest yourself fully. The rewards are beautiful.
