In a remarkable step towards instilling life-saving awareness among students, around 60 to 70 students from Classes IX to XI of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar participated in a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session held at Red Cross Bhawan, Jalandhar. The initiative aimed to empower young learners with the knowledge and confidence to act effectively during medical emergencies.
Guided by Medical Experts
The engaging and informative session was conducted by Dr. Ruchi Singh Gaur and Dr. Riddhima, who demonstrated CPR techniques through practical examples. They explained how timely chest compressions and rescue breaths can make a crucial difference in saving a person’s life during cardiac arrest. Students also learnt about first-aid responses to common injuries like wounds, burns, and electric shocks.
The doctors used mannequins for live demonstrations, ensuring every student could clearly visualise and understand the process. Their calm explanations and hands-on approach made the learning experience both exciting and impactful.
Encouragement from the Guest of Honour
The event was graced by Mr. Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner, Jalandhar, as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the students, he motivated them to take such training seriously and be prepared to act as responsible citizens during emergencies. His words encouraged students to view CPR not just as a skill, but as a moral duty towards humanity.

A Noble Initiative by the Red Cross Society
This thoughtful initiative was organised under the guidance of Dr. Surjit Lal, Secretary, Red Cross Society, Jalandhar, with the aim of promoting emergency preparedness among the youth. The Red Cross Society continues to partner with educational institutions like Apeejay School to build awareness and resilience among students.
Sharing her reflections, Japanjan Kaur, Cultural Captain of Aravali House, said, “It was truly a pleasure for me to experience this trip as it made me realise how we can give emergency first aid to ourselves and our dear ones in critical situations. The renowned doctors made the session enjoyable and exciting by explaining each concept patiently and using mannequins for clarity. We learnt about safety measures to be taken during wounds, burns, electric shocks, and how to give CPR.”

Expressing gratitude, she added, “I would like to thank our honourable Principal, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Chandel, for giving us this opportunity and Ms. Maninder Kaur, who accompanied us to the seminar. I hope the school continues to organise more educational seminars like this that can inspire students and help save lives around the world.”
