With immense enthusiasm and warmth, Apeejay School, Faridabad celebrated May Day to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the working class. The event was thoughtfully designed to foster appreciation and respect for the tireless efforts of support staff among students. It also aimed to instill in young minds the values of empathy, gratitude, and the dignity of labour – principles that are essential for building a more inclusive and respectful society.
A thoughtful start
The celebration commenced with a special morning assembly dedicated to Labour Day. Students came together to present thought-provoking speeches that traced the historical roots of May Day. They spoke about the origins of the labour movement and the ongoing struggle for fair working conditions, shedding light on the importance of recognising every individual’s contribution to society.

The atmosphere was further enriched by the recitation of poems and inspirational quotes that honoured the hard work of labourers across the globe. These literary expressions not only showcased the students’ creativity but also reflected their deep sense of empathy and social awareness.
Felicitation of support staff
A key highlight of the celebration was the heartfelt felicitation ceremony organised to appreciate the school’s dedicated support staff. From housekeeping and maintenance personnel to security guards and office assistants, every member was recognised and honoured. Students expressed their gratitude by creating beautiful handmade cards and presenting small tokens of appreciation. The joy and pride on the faces of the staff members made the moment truly special.
This simple yet powerful gesture helped students understand that true respect lies not in grand gestures, but in acknowledging the everyday efforts of those who work quietly behind the scenes.

Adding a touch of drama and creativity to the celebration, students presented a skit centred around the value of hard work. With engaging dialogues and expressive acting, the performance illustrated how determination and perseverance play a key role in achieving success. The skit was met with applause and left a lasting impression on the audience, reinforcing the idea that no job is insignificant.
In her address to the gathering, Principal Mrs. Snehlata Krishnan emphasised the importance of humility and encouraged students to respect every profession, regardless of its visibility. She highlighted how it is the collective efforts of all individuals – including those who work quietly in the background – that contribute to the smooth and effective functioning of the school. Her words served as a reminder of the values that form the foundation of a compassionate and cooperative society.

She urged students to cultivate gratitude in their daily lives and to never take the efforts of others for granted. Her words served as a reminder that character is defined not just by achievements, but by how we treat those around us.
