Water, an indispensable resource for life on Earth, holds unparalleled importance. Despite the planet’s vast water coverage, a mere 0.3% is freshwater – crucial for human use. And this is contributing to the pressing issue of water scarcity. Daily, we witness the reckless wastage and pollution of this precious resource. The antidote lies in water conservation, encompassing the preservation, management, and prevention of water pollution in both surface and groundwater.

In a significant stride towards global water conservation, Assistant Professor Neha Sharma from School of Legal Studies at Apeejay Stya University in Gurugram has secured a Design Patent for her innovative creation – the “Integrated Water Recycling and Distribution Device.” This patent, issued by the Patent Office, Government of India (vide no. 399204-001, dated 04.11.2023), reflects years of dedicated research in water conservation.
The device proposed by Prof. Neha Sharma aims to provide an effective mechanism for water conservation globally. By integrating water recycling and distribution, it addresses the critical issues of water scarcity and pollution. Her design patent stands as a testament to her commitment to advancing water conservation technologies.
This pioneering patent is anticipated to serve as a milestone in the field of global water conservation. With the potential to revolutionise how we approach water management, Prof. Neha Sharma’s contribution is poised to make a significant impact on preserving and sustainably utilising this invaluable resource. As we face mounting environmental challenges, innovative solutions like the “Integrated Water Recycling and Distribution Device” mark crucial steps towards ensuring a water-secure future for generations to come.
