Mrs. Preeti Sharma is a homemaker. Her husband Lalit Mohan Sharma, senior manager at Engineers India Ltd and she are proud parents of Apeejay Nerul class 3 and 1 students, Ojasvi Sharma and Debbie Sharma. In an interview, Mrs. Sharma lists her reasons for choosing the school and shares the likes and dislikes of her daughters and her perception about the online mode of learning. Edited excerpts:
Why did you choose Apeejay Nerul over other schools for your daughters’ admission?
We chose Apeejay Nerul since it is one of the most reputed schools in our locality. This is the first reason for choosing Apeejay Nerul. The second reason is that I researched about the school and found that Apeejay Nerul’s vision towards the development of a child was very good as they try to make the child responsible which I can see in my daughters as well. And of course, the school is close to my house.
Please tell us a bit about your daughters and take us through their progress at school?
They both like to draw. They are very innovative and creative. Both of them have very good speaking skills.
Ojasvi really likes English, she enjoys it a lot. Debbie likes Maths and Art. Debbie is a bit introverted as a child but since joining Apeejay Nerul I am observing that she is now opening up in front of others. On the other hand, Ojasvi has the personality of an extrovert.
Are the teachers engaging well with the students?
The teachers are really engaging well with the students. They are brilliant when it comes to one–on-one communication with the students. They try to clear all their doubts and they are always polite with the students. The teachers try to clear the concepts of the students with new creative activities. I’ll share today’s incident. In the morning, I saw that Debbie’s mathematics class was going on. Multiplication was being taught in the class. Her teacher Ms. Yamini asked the students to bring some Rajma seeds. When teaching 2 times 5, she asked the students to make 2 groups of five Rajma seeds. I like Apeejay Nerul because of this approach to education that they have.
What is the best thing about Apeejay Nerul?
The best thing about Apeejay Nerul is that they are focused on the overall development of the student. They try to identify the area where a child really needs improvement through regular assessment and interaction with the parents. At every parent teacher meeting, they ask us about the areas in which they should improve as teachers. I really like this in Apeejay Nerul.
What is your perception about the online mode of learning?
During the pandemic, Apeejay Nerul did not waste even a single day and started online classes right from April 1, 2020. The school is doing great in the online classes. They are conducting every single competition and activity. They do all the special assemblies and annual functions as well. We can’t help the pandemic so I am okay as a parent with the online classes as the best option at present.
