Apeejay members pay tribute to Smt. Rajeshwari Paul with art and cultural festivities

Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, recently celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Smt. Rajeshwari Paul Ji, the esteemed wife of the late Dr. Stya Paul Ji, Founder Chairman , Apeejay Stya Group & Apeejay Education. The event was marked by heartfelt tributes and reflections on her life and contributions, highlighting her enduring legacy in art, culture, and education.

The celebrations commenced with an address by Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, who first read out a message from Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education. In her message, Mrs. Berlia emphasised that this birth anniversary is a celebration of Smt. Rajeshwari Paul ji’s unique appreciation for art, aesthetics, and her boundless generosity. These qualities have become integral to the ethos of Apeejay Education.

Dr. Bagga elaborated on Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul ji’s profound love for both performing and visual arts, which was reflected in her vision to promote holistic development through art. Known for her grace and unconditional love, she was a noble soul with a vibrant personality. With an M.A. in English Literature, she was intelligent, ebullient, and had diverse interests, including dancing, swimming, and playing the harmonium. Her keen interest in the Indian classical dance Kathak was particularly notable.

Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul Ji was an inspirational force for the beloved Founder Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul Ji. Dr. Stya Paul Ji, an industrialist, philanthropist, freedom fighter, administrator, educationist, and above all, a great human being, championed the promotion of Indian art and culture during a time when these were not as highly valued.

Dr. Bagga concluded his address by expressing that although Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul Ji is no longer physically present, her legacy of art, culture, and generosity continues to thrive within Apeejay Education and in the hearts of everyone associated with it. He further reflected on her kind and gentle disposition, which charmed everyone around her. She was a motherly figure deeply involved in charitable works, and her immense contributions to education have left an indelible mark.

The address was followed by soulful bhajan renditions by Ms. Shikha Sharma, Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, and Ms. Hardeep Kaur, Assistant Professor at the School of Management. Their beautiful renditions of some of Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul Ji’s favorite hymns created a spiritual and serene atmosphere.

A poster-making activity was also organised to commemorate the occasion, centered around the theme of “Human Values.” Students participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their creativity and understanding of the theme. The vibrant posters highlighted various aspects of human values such as empathy, kindness, compassion, and generosity—qualities that Smt. Rajeshwari Paul Ji embodied throughout her life.

In conclusion, the celebration of Smt. Rajeshwari Paul Ji’s 100th birth anniversary was a poignant reminder of her lasting impact on art, culture, and education. The event not only honored her memory but also inspired students and faculty alike to uphold the values she cherished and promoted.
