For Navita Jha, a final-year PGDM student specialising in HR and Operations at Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, has been more than just a place of study — it has been a launchpad for growth, confidence and leadership. Inspired by her brother, who is an alumnus of ASM, Navita chose the Delhi-based B school for its faculty, infrastructure and supportive culture. Today, she reflects on her transformative journey at the institute. Read edited excerpts:
What made you choose Apeejay School of Management for your higher studies?
I was inspired by my elder brother, Rishabh Jha, who is an alumnus of ASM. He often spoke about the brilliant faculty and infrastructure, and the way the college shaped his career in finance. His positive experience motivated me to join ASM.
Why did you choose to specialise in HR and Operations?
I had done my bachelor’s in HR and was always fond of the subject. I love interacting with people and understanding workplace dynamics. Later, during my internship, I also got exposure to Operations and realised that combining it with HR would give me a holistic edge for the future.
What have been your key learnings from the course so far?
The most important learning has been developing communication skills, which are essential for HR. I also gained confidence in myself, learned to enjoy what I do, and completed certifications in HR Analytics to stay industry-relevant.
How would you describe the faculty at ASM?
The faculty is extremely supportive and approachable. We can reach out to them anytime with doubts, and they also mentor each student individually. Their guidance has been invaluable for both academics and placements.
Tell us about your campus life and leadership experiences.
In my first year, I was part of the cultural club and helped organise events like Diwali celebrations. Currently, I am the General Secretary of the Operations Club, which has helped me hone leadership and organisational skills.
How has ASM prepared you for placements?
The college has groomed us through resume writing sessions, interview practice, and soft skills training. This has boosted my confidence and prepared me well for professional challenges.
