Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, marked International Youth Day with a series of vibrant competitions aimed at engaging students and inspiring them to understand the importance of youth participation in social change. Organised by the College’s Student Central Association and NSS Wing, the event reflected the institution’s ongoing commitment to nurturing student confidence and creativity through diverse activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra highlighted the global significance of the day. She informed students that International Youth Day was declared in 1999 by the United Nations General Assembly. The day, she noted, is dedicated to recognising the role of young people as vital partners in driving change and to raising awareness about the challenges faced by youth worldwide.
Dr. Dhingra further cited UNICEF’s observation that India has the largest youth population in the world — with 371 million individuals aged between 15 and 29 — and emphasised that this demographic has the power to contribute meaningfully towards global progress. She urged students to channel their energy and potential into constructive initiatives that address pressing societal concerns.

To celebrate the occasion, the college organised a variety of competitions, giving students multiple platforms to express their ideas and talent. These included:
The competitions not only promoted creative expression but also underscored the day’s core message — that young people can be leaders and innovators in building a better future.

Dr. Dhingra lauded the commitment of programme coordinators Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Monika Anand, Dr. Jagmohan Mago, and Dr. Simkee Dev. She appreciated their efforts in guiding students’ energy in a positive direction and ensuring that the celebrations were both engaging and educational.
By combining creativity, awareness, and active participation, Apeejay College of Fine Arts once again demonstrated its dedication to holistic student development. The International Youth Day celebrations served not only as a platform for talent but also as a reminder to every participant of the vital role they can play in shaping a more inclusive and progressive world.
