Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, recently celebrated its Annual Sports Meet 2024. An event brimming with energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. The day, marked by vibrant displays of athleticism and teamwork, saw the participation of students from nursery to class XII.
The Chief Guest for the day was Olympian S Surinder Singh Sodhi (IPS), former Inspector General of Police (Retd.) and President of the Aam Aadmi Party Sports Wing, Punjab, who honoured the occasion with his esteemed presence. Mr AK Sharma, the Principal of the school warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and the parents, setting the tone for a day full of spirited competition.
The celebrations started with the traditional torch relay and the release of colourful balloons, symbolising the commencement of the sports festivities. This was followed by an energetic and captivating dance performance by the girls of class IV, which set the stage for the day’s events.
The students showcased their athletic prowess through a variety of track and field events. Younger participants delighted in fun-filled races like the Crawling Race, Banana Race, Sack Race, and Obstacle Race, while older students competed fiercely in the 200m, 400m, and 600m races, along with Shot Put and Long Jump. The highlight of the day was the exhilarating 4x100m relay races, which kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
In his address, Mr Sodhi emphasised the importance of balancing sports with academics for a well-rounded development. He lauded the efforts of the principal and staff for organising such a successful event.
The day culminated with the distribution of medals and certificates to the deserving winners, celebrating not just victory, but the spirit of participation and teamwork.
