The ancient practice of yoga has long been recognised for its role in promoting relaxation, boosting the immune system, and fostering mental and physical well-being. Recognising its significance, Apeejay School, Kharghar, recently dedicated an entire week to celebrate the International Yoga Day and profound benefits of yoga. The event aimed to unite students, faculty, and non-teaching staff members in an immersive experience that highlighted the power of yoga to harmonise the body, mind, and spirit.

The event commenced with a brief introduction on yoga by Devendra Atwal, Physical Education Instructor, highlighting the importance of this ancient practice. It was followed by the welcome speech of Mrs. Tejaswini S. Katdare, Principal of Apeejay School, Kharghar, who emphasised on the value of yoga in achieving physical and spiritual well-being.

Mr. Ram Palat Yadav, who has served on various frontline warships for over 34 years, led the yoga session. With his expertise in radial engines fitted on board Russian warships and his qualifications as a Mukhya Yoga Shikshak from Patanjali Yogpeeth Haridwar, Mr. Yadav selflessly shared his knowledge with the attendees.

The yoga session began with warm-up exercises, preparing the students for the practice. Under Mr. Yadav’s guidance, all the participants performed various asanas, accompanied by explanations of their importance and benefits. The students actively engaged in the session, showcasing their enthusiasm for the practice of yoga.

Throughout the event, every participant was educated about the significance of yoga in their daily lives. The students actively discussed the benefits of yoga and pledged to incorporate it into their everyday routines.

The event concluded with a collective breathing exercise, symbolising unity and celebrating the timeless wisdom of yoga. This event left a lasting impression, engaging both students and staff alike, while deeply embedding the significance of yoga in their lives.

Mrs. Tejaswini Katdare expressed her belief that yoga acts as a source of strength and inner peace, balancing the body and mind. She highlighted, “This year’s theme for Yoga Day, ‘Yoga for Vasudaiva Kutumbakam,’ signifies one earth, one family, and one future. Yoga represents the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, the harmony of the soul, and the symphony of life. During our school’s Yoga Week celebration, we highlighted the importance of physical fitness and imparted to our students the mantra of a disciplined life through meditation.”
