
Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, organised a vibrant and engaging ‘Spin a Yarn’ competition for Class II students. The event was held in the school’s multi-purpose hall and aimed to foster creativity, enhance verbal skills, and build confidence in young learners through the art of storytelling.
The young participants arrived with great enthusiasm, ready to narrate tales that showcased their vivid imagination and storytelling flair. The competition was judged by two accomplished educators, Dr Priyanka Malhotra and Ms Meghna Diwan, who evaluated the students on creativity, storytelling techniques, expression, and confidence.
Each child brought a unique story to life, using voice modulation, expressive gestures, and engaging props. Their ability to connect with the audience while weaving morality-based narratives was commendable. Many stories highlighted values like honesty, kindness, and perseverance, making the session both entertaining and educational.
Engaging the audience
The energy in the hall was infectious, as classmates and teachers cheered on each storyteller with applause and encouragement. The atmosphere was warm and supportive, enabling the students to perform without hesitation. The judges appreciated the effort each child put into their storytelling and offered constructive feedback to help them grow further.
After a delightful series of performances, the results were announced. The overall winners were: Overall first place: Tavish Goel (II D) and overall second place: Swara Jain (II B). In addition, the following students were recognised as Best in Class: Kavya Kapoor (II A), Amyra Aggarwal (II B), Iraivi Maharana (II C), and Ishanvi Rathore (II D).
Vice-principal Mrs Amrita Hajela presided over the event and congratulated all the participants. She applauded their confidence and creativity, encouraging them to continue exploring storytelling as a medium of expression and learning.
The ‘Spin a Yarn’ competition was a delightful celebration of imagination and expression. Events like these not only promote language development but also instil self-confidence in young minds.
