Taglines, appreciation cards and more: Teachers are revered at this school
Students of Apeejay School International, South Delhi, organise a heart-touching Teacher’s Day event. Students share taglines for teachers reflecting the sum of their teachings
A child spends more time with his or her teachers at school than with the parents at home. Therefore, it is rightly said that one’s teacher becomes one’s second-parent in the gradual course of time. A teacher chisels the students with the hammer of knowledge and polishes their minds with sandpaper of wisdom. They enable students to fashion themselves in a way that benefits both themselves as well as the world. Indeed, it is a teacher that helps us realise the potential of the light within us all.
Celebrating Teacher’s Day is not only appreciating these special souls but also realising the value of their years of effort towards man-making. At Apeejay School International, South Delhi, Teachers’ Day is an occasion for students to understand the importance of the contribution of teachers in their lives.
Teacher’s Day was thereby celebrated enthusiastically by all the young learners. With great pomp and vigour, they showcased their love and gratitude towards their teachers through several cultural activities. The students organised a cultural programme replete with foot tapping music accompanied by mesmerising dances performances.
Nakul Logani, DP-2 (class 12) student said, “I was the master of the ceremony and played a key role in the organising committee. Firstly , we had a presentation on the life of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. It was followed by three dance performances by primary and middle year students. We then presented every teacher with a tagline that represented their teaching lessons in a nutshell. For DP-coordinator Neha Sharma ma’am, the tagline given by us was ‘self-belief and hard work will always earn you success.’ All the teachers were also presented with appreciation notes by the students. ”
Another student, Aryan Roy Pal (DP-1, class 11) said, “I did the decorations for the event. We chose autumn as the theme for decoration. So, I cut out leaves and decorated the board on the stage and used the leaves in the appreciation cards for the teachers as well. I also performed my instrument Kahong at the end. I played a free-play self composed beat. It was a delightful experience for me.”
Sharing his thoughts, Mr. Purshottam Dutt Vashist , Principal of Apeejay School International, South Delhi said, “I believe ‘teaching’ is not a profession, but more of a duty, a commitment. It is so because all of us are actively engaged in shaping the future of these young ones in our care and hence, building the nation and the world at large. So on the Teachers’ Day, let’s rededicate ourselves to this noble and critical job through vowing to equip these young souls with the right set of values and attitudes and ultimately to build their character for that is what defines the success of a community, society and a nation.”
