Mrs. Poonam Kaushal is a homemaker. Her husband Mr. Jitender Kaushal is a manager in an IT firm. Their children Bhavni Kaushal and Bhavik Kaushal are class 10 and 6 students at Apeejay Saket.

In an interview, Mrs. Kaushal recalls how within a year, both her children feel at home in Apeejay Saket. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay Saket for the admission of Bhavni and Bhavik?

The school is highly reputed. It is a very prestigious school in South Delhi. Apeejay Saket is very well-known in all of Delhi. So that was the primary reason. Also the school comes within the five kilometre radius of our residence.

Please tell us a bit about Bhavni and Bhavik and take us through their progress at school?

Bhavni loves to study Biology. She is also fond of playing the guitar and the piano. She is interested in playing football as well. Bhavik on the other hand loves Mathematics. He loves to play chess and football the most. He hasn’t got the chance to play these at school yet, so he is a little bit upset about that.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

My kids have shifted through three schools and have been at Apeejay Saket for almost a year now. Last year they had entirely online classes and the school has only recently reopened. So the interaction with the teachers has been limited. The school is very good. The teachers take complete care of the children at school. So, we as parents are relaxed in this regard. I would like to thank Bhavni’s class teacher Purnima mam, she is a very good teacher.

What is the best thing about Apeejay Saket?

In the recent graduation ceremony which the school organised for class 5 students, I noticed that the teachers and Principal sir, all became children with the children. They were so proud of all the students. They were equally joyous as the students. They taught all the students with all their heart. So, they were very proud as all the students performed and were felicitated on the stage. The teacher-student interaction is simply excellent in the school.

Now that the schools have reopened, are the students happy to go back to school?

Both the kids are very happy to be back at school. My daughter is extremely happy. Actually she is in class 10, so now she will get the chance to do the practical sessions in the lab. All her teachers and classmates are also very nice. She is very happy to attend the classes physically every day.
