Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, organised an E-Waste Management Awareness Session using Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with Pahal Project, with the aim of sensitising students towards sustainable technological practices and environmental responsibility.
The awareness session was conducted against the backdrop of rapid digital advancement, where the use of electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, computers, and other gadgets has increased exponentially. Addressing this critical concern, the institute took a proactive step to educate students on the growing challenge of electronic waste and the urgent need for its responsible management.

The session was led by Mr. Bipan Kumar, representative of Pahal NGO, who served as the key resource person. Through an engaging and informative presentation, he highlighted the concept of e-waste, its sources, and the harmful impact of improper disposal on the environment and human health. He explained how discarded electronic items contain hazardous substances that can contaminate soil, water, and air if not handled correctly.
Mr. Kumar emphasised the importance of responsible disposal, safe handling, and recycling of electronic waste, stressing that proper e-waste management not only reduces environmental pollution but also helps conserve natural resources. He further explained how valuable materials such as metals can be recovered from electronic waste through scientific recycling processes, thereby reducing the need for excessive mining and resource extraction.

A key highlight of the session was the discussion on the role of Artificial Intelligence in e-waste management. The speaker elaborated on how AI-based technologies can assist in sorting electronic waste, improving recycling efficiency, tracking waste generation, and optimising disposal systems. The integration of AI, he noted, has the potential to revolutionise waste management systems and make them more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Students actively participated in the session, showing keen interest by raising questions related to sustainable consumption, recycling practices, and individual responsibility in managing e-waste. The interaction encouraged students to reflect on their own digital habits and adopt eco-friendly alternatives in their daily lives.

The session concluded with a strong message on collective responsibility, urging students to become conscious digital citizens and contribute towards a cleaner and greener environment. This initiative reinforced the institute’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability through education and community engagement.
Through such meaningful collaborations and awareness programmes, Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering continues to inspire students to align technological growth with environmental stewardship.
