Parents today seek schools that go beyond textbooks, placing equal emphasis on moral values, discipline, and a sense of social responsibility. With a system known for its academic rigour, they believe that a strong, challenging learning environment helps nurture qualities like perseverance, focus, and analytical thinking.
It was this very vision of holistic development that led Dr Ashish Ranjan and his wife to choose Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, for their son, Prakhar, who is now moving to Class II. For them, Apeejay School stood out as the ideal institute — one that balances academic excellence with character-building, ensuring their child grows in both mind and spirit.
“We had heard about the school from our peer groups — many of their children were already studying there. They spoke very positively about the school’s holistic approach to the development of the child. That inspired us to consider Apeejay School,” Dr Ranjan said in a candid interview.
What was your first impression when you visited the school?
When I first visited the school in 2023, my first impression was excellent. Everyone seemed cheerful. The school In-charge of the nursery section was personally present during the meeting, which we appreciated. She even took us on a tour of the school and showed us the various facilities. The fields and playing area especially left an excellent impression — everything a child needs is available.
How has your child grown in the past couple of years—academically and personally?
I think he has become a good speaker, a good orator. He participates in all classroom activities and also in school-wide functions held in the auditorium. Since he’s a single child, he doesn’t talk much at home, but now he speaks very eloquently in English, which I believe he has learnt at school. Academically, he’s doing quite well. He’s not exceptionally strong in Math and Science, but he’s still young and improving. I think he’s excellent overall.
As a single child, how do you teach your son the value of sharing?
Though he’s our only child, we live in a joint family. My brothers and their kids are also with us. So he plays with his cousins and shares his things with them. That environment helps teach him to share naturally.
How is the school balancing academics and co-curricular activities?
I think the school maintains a well-balanced programme. We have enrolled him in multiple clubs like Abacus and sports, and he participates actively. He’s also taken part in Olympiads and has performed well. So I believe the school is inculcating good academic practices along with co-curricular exposure.

What are some qualities of the teachers that stand out to you?
The teachers give personal attention to each child, which is excellent. They’re humble and ensure that no child feels left out. That level of care makes a big difference.
Apeejay places a lot of emphasis on values. Have you seen this reflected in your child?
Yes. Although he’s very young and doesn’t explicitly discuss values, I’ve noticed he never misbehaves with anyone. He respects everyone he meets — even strangers. I’ve seen other kids misbehave with strangers or even their parents, but he doesn’t. That tells me he’s learning good values at school.
What has your overall experience been like with the school so far?
Our experience has been great. We always wanted a school that supports holistic development, but also offers comfort to the parents. From transportation to the classroom environment, everything is very well managed. Most importantly, security is a top priority for us as parents. We’ve always seen that the school staff gives proper attention to each child and keeps a watchful eye on all activities.
Have you observed any specific positive changes in your child since he joined the school?
The changes have been gradual because growth is a continuous process. But yes, he’s doing well in studies. Interestingly, he doesn’t study much at home, but he still performs well, so we know the school is doing its part.
