Community service in MBA colleges fosters leadership, social responsibility, and teamwork. It provides students with real-world problem-solving experiences, strengthens community ties, and nurtures empathy—essential qualities for ethical and impactful business leaders in today’s interconnected world.

Knowing the importance of the same, the Community Service Group of the Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka recently organised the “Joy of Giving Week” to promote the spirit of sharing and generosity amongst all.

Led by Dr. Srirang Jha and Prof.Nupur Soti from ASM, this heartwarming initiative aimed to foster the values of compassion and community service among students and faculty.

Throughout the week, students and faculty members actively participated by donating various items, including clothes, stationery, medicines, toys, and shoes. These contributions were made to the NGO Family of Disabled (FOD), which works tirelessly to support individuals with disabilities and their families. FOD is a registered voluntary organisation serving people with disabilities since 1992. Being a cross – disability organisation, FOD is able to serve people with different disabilities. Founded by Dr. Rajinder Johar, after he became quadriplegic due to a gunshot injury to his spine, FOD aims at building and nurturing the capacities of disabled persons. The items collected during the week were handed over to the specially-abled people at FOD.

Students including Anushka Rajawat, Ankush Tanwar, Shikhar, and Prashant, also volunteered to organise and sort the collected items, ensuring they reached the NGO in a well-structured manner. The event served as a reminder of the impact small acts of kindness can have on the lives of others.

Sharing his thoughts, Ankush Tanwar, a first-year student, remarked, “The Joy of Giving Week has taught me that generosity isn’t about how much we give but about how much love we put into giving. It feels fulfilling to know that our efforts will bring smiles to many faces.” Another participant, Anushka Rajawat, a first-year student, expressed, “This special week of Joy of Giving was a wonderful experience. It made me realise how privileged we are and how It is to share our blessings with those who need them.”

The initiative not only supported a worthy cause but also instilled a sense of social responsibility to everyone involved. The week concluded with a visit from the representatives of the NGO, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Apeejay community for their thoughtful contributions. The Joy of Giving Week was truly a celebration of humanity, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.
