The Marketing Department at Apeejay School of Management (ASM) recently organised a successful Management Development Program (MDP) designed to enhance participants’ skills in advanced analytical techniques essential for market research and decision-making. The program was divided into three comprehensive modules, each focusing on in-depth knowledge and practical skills in Conjoint and Cluster Analysis. Esteemed faculty members Dr. Preeti Suryawanshi, Prof. Ruchi Malik, and Dr. Ranjit Kaur led the sessions.
Prof. Dr. Etinder Pal Singh, Deputy Director, inaugurated the program with a warm welcome to all participants. He expressed his hope that the attendees would have a fruitful learning experience and encouraged them to participate in future MDPs organised by the institution.
Module 1: Introduction to Conjoint and Cluster Analysis Conducted by: Dr. Preeti Suryawanshi
Dr. Preeti Suryawanshi began the MDP with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of Conjoint and Cluster Analysis. She explained how Conjoint Analysis helps in understanding consumer preferences and the relative importance of different product or service attributes. Dr. Suryawanshi also covered Cluster Analysis, highlighting its role in identifying natural groupings within data, which aids in market segmentation and targeted marketing strategies. She used real-world applications, case studies, and examples to demonstrate how businesses leverage these analyses to make data-driven decisions, enhance product offerings, and improve market positioning.

Module 2: Conjoint Analysis Using Excel Conducted by: Prof. Ruchi Malik
The second module, led by Prof. Ruchi Malik, focused on practical applications of Conjoint Analysis using Excel. Prof. Malik guided participants through identifying significant product or service attributes, breaking them down into constituent attributes and levels. She provided techniques for evaluating consumer preferences through Conjoint Analysis, including practical exercises on setting up and analysing data in Excel. Prof. Malik emphasised strategies for businesses to prioritise product features based on consumer preferences, enhancing competitiveness by aligning offerings with market demand. The hands-on exercises gave participants practical experience, equipping them with skills to apply Conjoint Analysis in real-world scenarios.

Module 3: Cluster Analysis Using SPSS Conducted by: Dr. Ranjit Kaur
Dr. Ranjit Kaur conducted the final module, focusing on Cluster Analysis using SPSS. She emphasised the importance of making informed decisions based on empirical evidence rather than intuition. Dr. Kaur covered the theoretical foundations of Cluster Analysis and its significance in market research, including techniques for uncovering hidden patterns within complex datasets. Participants engaged in practical exercises on data preparation, analysis, and interpretation using SPSS. Dr. Kaur illustrated real-world applications, showing how Cluster Analysis can identify market segments, target specific customer groups, and develop tailored marketing strategies. These insights help businesses enhance strategic planning and operational efficiency.
This Development Program was a resounding success, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of Conjoint and Cluster Analysis. The program’s structure, led by expert faculty, ensured attendees gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The hands-on sessions in Excel and SPSS equipped participants with the tools needed to apply these techniques professionally, enhancing their ability to make data-driven decisions and improve business outcomes.
