Sukhman Singh, a student with Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, is passionate about writing. The budding writer has earned several laurels for his art of writing, editing and designing books, which are a compilation of essays, poems and stories. And once again it’s a proud moment for Sukhman as one of his books ‘Duniya De Rang‘ has been selected by the Punjab School Education Board for libraries. The young artist has made great achievements in the field of art and literature. In 2019, his book ‘Safar Zindagi Da’ had received the ‘Best Book Award’ by Tare Bhalke De Baal Pratibha Manch, Patiala. He also got the ‘Mata Bhajan Kaur Nikkiyan Karumblan’ award for his works. Please tell us about your book ‘Duniya De Rang‘
Duniya De Rang’ is a compilation of stories and poems for children. This book is written and designed by me. The topics in this book are based on environment, pollution, relations, lifestyle, parents. It comprises 4 stories as well as 16 poems and all of them are written in a very simple language. The idea is to deliver key messages to the young minds. The meaning of this book in English is ‘Colours of the World’ that teaches the youth about different phases of life in an entertaining way. This book was released in 2020 and was trending at that time in Punjab. Today, it’s a proud moment for as this book has been selected by the Punjab School Education Board for distribution in the libraries
What inspired you to write this book?
I had experienced various pains in my life as a child, and those thoughts always revolved around my mind. My teachers inspired me a lot. Their teachings only inspired me to write this book. Whatever I have learnt from my life, I elaborated everything in this book.These are my observations from my own life so far.

What are the learnings shared in this book?

This book teaches young children how to stay motivated, how to move with your parents and different relationships in life. Also, the stories and poems tell us about the importance of nature and mother’s love, describing various colours of life.
Any book you are writing, currently?
Yes, I am writing and compiling two books. One book is for children and I am also compiling a book of poetries written by budding writers. My motive to compile this book is to provide a platform to young writers and encourage them further. Till now, I have written two books for children. Two of my anthologies are published with the other two writers. I am also an artist, who designs books and their covers. So far, I have designed more than 2 dozen books.
