Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad came alive with rhythm and colour during its Inter-House Solo Dance Competition for juniors. The stage turned into a celebration of India’s cultural richness, with students performing folk and western styles that left the audience spellbound. The highlight of the event was the remarkable achievements of young dancers from Class 7, Kavya Bisht, Kanika Tewatia, Nishika Aggarwal, and Aradhya Kapasiya who won top honours with their creative and confident performances in Folk/Western category.
Kavya Bisht – 1st Position
Bagging the first position, Class 7 student Kavya Bisht performed the energetic Rajasthani folk dance, Kalbelia. What makes her achievement remarkable is that she choreographed the steps herself. “It took me around five to six days to prepare the dance. Dancing is my passion, and I enjoyed every moment of it,” Kavya shared proudly. Along with dance, Kavya is also a Taekwondo enthusiast and has previously reached the green belt level. Reflecting on her win, she said, “I did not expect the first position, but I think my confidence on stage made the difference.”
Kanika Tewatia – 2nd Position
Kanika Tewatia, also from Class 7, secured the second position with her vibrant performance on the Marathi folk song Rambha. Preparing for just two days, Kanika choreographed her routine entirely on her own by learning through online videos. “At first, I was nervous, but when I was declared the second prize winner, I was very surprised and happy,” she said. Her parents were equally delighted and proud of her achievement, making the moment even more special.

Nishika Aggarwal – 3rd Position
The third position was awarded to Nishika Aggarwal, Class 7, who performed a lively Haryanvi dance on the popular folk number Patli Kamar Nada Jubedar. Guided by her school dance teacher, Nishika had just one day to prepare after a last-minute song change. “I worked really hard that day and kept practicing after school. My mother was doubtful at first, but when I told her I won, she was so happy and proud,” she recalled with a smile. Besides dancing, Nishika also enjoys painting, badminton, and cricket, making her a true all-rounder.
Aradhya Kapasiya – Consolation Prize
Class 7 student Aradhya Kapasiya earned a consolation prize for her spirited folk dance performance. Initially nervous, Aradhya overcame her hesitation with encouragement from her dance teacher and her mother. “I prepared for about 3–4 days, both at home and in school. My teacher helped me whenever I got confused with steps, and my mom motivated me to keep going,” she said. Apart from dancing, Aradhya is an active sports enthusiast who plays basketball and enjoys swimming every day at school.
