Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, echoed with pride, patriotism, and creativity as the school celebrated Independence Day with a series of vibrant events. The occasion was marked not just as a tribute to India’s freedom struggle but also as an opportunity to instil in young learners the values of unity, responsibility, and love for the nation.
The celebrations began with an atmosphere brimming with national fervour. The school premises were adorned with the hues of the Tricolour — fluttering flags, colourful rangolis, and banners highlighting India’s glorious journey to independence. Students, teachers, and staff assembled in the school grounds to witness the ceremonial proceedings that formed the heart of the day.

The formal programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Vice-principal, Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat, accompanied by the NCC Cadets, whose disciplined march and presence brought a sense of dignity to the event. The sight of the Tricolour soaring high in the sky was a moving reminder of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters. As the flag swayed in the breeze, the entire gathering united in singing the National Anthem, their voices blending into a powerful chorus of pride and solidarity.

This was followed by a range of performances that showcased the students’ creativity and patriotic spirit. Children expressed their devotion through patriotic songs, speeches, and cultural programmes that highlighted the essence of India’s freedom struggle and its continued relevance in today’s world. From soul-stirring melodies to thought-provoking speeches on the values of freedom and democracy, each presentation reflected the passion and sincerity of the young learners.
Adding further charm to the celebrations was the Independence Day Craft Activity, organised for students of Classes I to VIII. In this engaging exercise, the young artists channelled their creativity to design Tricolour-themed crafts, including national flags, kites, wall hangings, and decorative items. The colourful creations not only enhanced the festive atmosphere but also symbolised the children’s love for their country in a tangible way. Teachers and parents praised the innovative ideas and meticulous effort that went into every piece, as the display of crafts turned the classrooms and corridors into a gallery of patriotism.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-principal congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and heartfelt performances. She reminded them that independence comes with responsibility and urged the young learners to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and respect for their nation. In her inspiring words, she emphasised that today’s students are the torchbearers of tomorrow and that by nurturing qualities of honesty, discipline, and compassion, they can contribute meaningfully to the progress of the country.
The presence of the NCC Cadets further enriched the programme, reminding everyone of the role of discipline, courage, and service in nation-building. Their participation served as a symbol of India’s commitment to grooming youth who will protect and preserve the ideals of freedom.
The Independence Day celebrations at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, thus went beyond ritualistic observance. They were a blend of cultural vibrancy, creative expression, and patriotic learning. By combining artistic activities with traditional ceremonies, the school ensured that students not only celebrated the day but also internalised its meaning.
The day concluded with smiles, pride, and a renewed determination in every heart to contribute towards the growth of the nation. The celebrations served as a powerful reminder that freedom is a shared responsibility and that instilling these values in the younger generation ensures that the spirit of independence will continue to shine brightly in the years to come.
