The spirit of festivity and cultural pride came alive as Apeejay School, Faridabad hosted a vibrant Virtual Lohri Celebration for its young learners from Pre-Nursery to Class V. Despite the online format, the enthusiasm of the students transformed screens into a lively celebration of tradition, colour and learning.
Dressed in bright traditional attire, the little stars confidently took to the virtual stage, filling the session with cheerful energy. Students showcased lively Punjabi folk dances, sang melodious songs and shared the joy associated with the harvest festival. Their performances reflected not only excitement but also an early appreciation of India’s rich cultural diversity.
The celebration was thoughtfully designed to go beyond performances. Engaging craft activities allowed students to create Lohri-themed artwork, encouraging creativity and fine motor skills. Interactive quizzes and riddles kept the young participants actively involved, testing their knowledge in a fun and age-appropriate manner. These activities ensured that learning remained joyful while nurturing curiosity and participation.
A special segment of the programme focused on helping students understand the significance of Lohri. Teachers explained how the festival marks the harvest season, welcomes the onset of spring and symbolises warmth, gratitude and togetherness through the traditional bonfire. Through simple storytelling and discussions, children learned about the importance of respecting nature, farmers and seasonal cycles—values that form the foundation of environmental and social awareness.
The virtual celebration also highlighted the importance of adapting traditions to modern times while keeping their essence intact. It encouraged students to connect with their cultural roots even in a digital setting, reinforcing lessons on unity, gratitude and shared happiness.
Overall, the Virtual Lohri Celebration at Apeejay School, Faridabad was a perfect blend of festivity and education. It provided young learners with an enriching experience that combined cultural understanding, creative expression and interactive learning—proving that meaningful celebrations can thrive, even beyond physical classrooms.
