Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, recently organised an Inter-House Hindi Debate Competition for primary classes. The event, designed to foster critical thinking and public speaking skills among young students, focused on the topic, “Uniforms Should Be Banned in Schools”. The debate aimed to provide a platform for students to express their views, engage in intellectual discussions, and demonstrate their oratory skills. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students representing various houses, making it a memorable and intellectually stimulating event.

The debate was particularly engaging as students confidently presented their arguments, both for and against the motion. Those in favour of banning uniforms argued for individual expression and freedom of choice, highlighting the importance of allowing students to showcase their unique identities. On the other hand, students who opposed the motion emphasised the significance of uniforms in maintaining discipline, equality, and a sense of belonging among students. The lively exchanges reflected the depth of preparation and understanding among the participants, who not only presented their points with clarity but also skillfully countered their opponents.

The competition was fierce, with students demonstrating a high level of proficiency in public speaking. The students from Class 5, in particular, stood out with their articulate arguments. Saanvi and Parag from Gautam House were among the most impressive participants. Saanvi’s well-organised and persuasive arguments earned her the first position, while Parag, with his logical and thought-provoking points, secured the second position. Kunj from Vivekananda House also delivered a commendable performance, finishing in third place. Their success was a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the guidance provided by their teachers.

The event was graced by the presence of the school’s Principal, Dr. Vineet Vasishtha, who played an instrumental role in encouraging and motivating the students. In his address, Dr. Vasishtha emphasised the importance of debating in nurturing critical thinking skills and boosting the confidence of young learners. He praised the students for their efforts and commended the teachers for their guidance in preparing the participants for the competition. Dr. Vasishtha later distributed prizes to the winners, acknowledging their achievements and encouraging them to continue honing their skills.

The Inter-House Hindi Debate Competition concluded on a high note, with applause and cheers resonating throughout the auditorium. The event not only showcased the students’ dedication and talent but also instilled a sense of pride in all who attended. The achievements of Saanvi, Parag, and Kunj are expected to inspire their peers to strive for excellence in future intellectual pursuits. The success of the event highlighted the importance of such competitions in the holistic development of students, encouraging them to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage in meaningful discourse.
