The Primary Section of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg recently came alive with colour, creativity, and cultural warmth as it hosted a Rakhi Making Activity ahead of Raksha Bandhan. The event aimed to not only celebrate the cherished Indian festival but also to provide young learners an opportunity to express their feelings through art and craft.

With joyful enthusiasm, the students created vibrant and meaningful rakhis that reflected their imagination and affection. From decorative mirrors and sequins to beads and colourful threads, every rakhi told its own unique story of sibling love and festive cheer.

Encouraging Artistic Expression in Young Learners

Such co-curricular activities are essential in nurturing holistic development in children. While academic subjects build knowledge, events like the Rakhi Making Activity ignite creativity, improve fine motor skills, and enhance visual-spatial thinking. Students worked patiently and passionately, blending colours, choosing designs, and arranging patterns, all while thinking deeply about the person they would give their rakhi to.

More than just a craft session, this event became a platform for children to communicate their feelings, improve hand-eye coordination, and develop a sense of aesthetic awareness. It helped them gain confidence in their artistic abilities and take pride in their work.

Learning the Cultural Significance of Raksha Bandhan

Through this activity, students also explored the cultural roots of Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the sacred bond between siblings.

The spirit of brotherhood, protection, and unconditional love was felt in every corner of the classroom, as children tied rakhis to their friends and even their teachers. It was a touching experience that instilled empathy, kindness, and emotional intelligence.

Vice Principal Ms. Aarti Shorey Bhat visited the classrooms during the activity and applauded the children for their imaginative creations. She admired the enthusiasm with which the students participated and encouraged them to keep exploring their inner artist. Her kind words and warm presence added joy to the celebration.
