Safety is not just a slogan — it’s a way of life. Upholding this belief, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, organised a Traffic Safety Awareness Programme for the students of Class V under the guidance of Mr Pankaj Kaushik, TGT Science. The initiative aimed to sensitise young learners about the importance of road safety and encourage them to become responsible citizens who follow traffic rules.
Designed as an experiential learning activity, the programme adopted the principle of learning by doing. Students actively participated in a public contact exercise conducted near the school premises, where they interacted with pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. They courteously reminded them to wear helmets, avoid mobile phone use while driving, and obey traffic signals. Their confident communication and polite approach drew appreciation from bystanders and passersby alike.
Adding colour and creativity to the awareness drive, students designed eye-catching posters and chanted impactful slogans like Safety First, Speed Last, Drive with Care-Life is Rare, and Follow Rules, Save Lives. Their enthusiasm and commitment reflected a deep understanding of the values of safety, discipline, and civic sense.
The event successfully demonstrated the school’s focus on holistic education and experiential learning, where students gain practical insights beyond textbooks. Teachers praised the initiative for nurturing awareness, empathy, and social responsibility among students.
“It is heartening to see our young learners taking initiative in spreading awareness about road safety. The Traffic Safety Awareness Programme, conducted under the guidance of Mr Kaushik, provided students with valuable experiential learning. Such activities not only educate but also shape responsible and empathetic citizens. I appreciate the efforts of the students and staff for making this programme a great success,” Dr Vineet Vasishtha, Principal, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, said.
The programme concluded with a short reflection session in which students shared their experiences and pledged to follow traffic rules diligently while inspiring others to do the same. The awareness drive proved to be a meaningful and impactful exercise, reinforcing that safety begins with individual responsibility and mindful action.
