How long did it take you to write?

Writing this piece took quite a bit of time. From the initial to the final draft, it spanned a year. The beginning was tough, but as I started writing, ideas flowed onto the paper and I enjoyed the process! Overall, it was a labour of love, and I’m pleased with how it turned out.

How did the idea of writing a book originate?

I never considered writing a novel until my parents recognised my potential and encouraged me to pursue it. I’ve always been inspired by Emma Watson, and one of my favourite quotes of hers is, “The less you reveal, the more people can wonder.” The idea for my novel emerged from my passion for reading a plethora of books and expressing my thoughts through writing poems and stories.

Who is your favourite author and why?

Choosing a favourite author has always been a challenge for me. After reading a wide range of books, I’ve come to appreciate that each work carries its unique voice and evokes different emotions the author wishes to share. That said, the writings of JK Rowling, Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni have left a lasting impact on me and continue to inspire my journey as a writer.

Has writing honed your personality?

As a fiction author, writing has profoundly enriched my personality by deepening my understanding of diverse perspectives. The process of creating characters allows me to step into different lives and explore the many facets of the human experience. It has also connected me with a vibrant and supportive literary community, continuously inspiring my growth as both a writer and an individual.

Any challenges faced during the writing and publishing process?

I struggled with self‑doubt, managing my time, and figuring out publishing. But each challenge helped me grow as a writer.

Advice for budding writers.

Embrace your unique voice and write every day. Read widely to absorb different styles, and don’t fear rejection; each setback brings valuable lessons. Stay persistent and passionate. Focus on the impact of your writing rather than the number of pages; it’s the essence of your message that truly counts.
