Young athletes shine at Punjab Zonal-level competition

In a dazzling display of youthful talent and sportsmanship, the Punjab School Zonal Level Athletics Competition unfolded at Doaba Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar from October 10 – 11, 2023. The event brought together budding athletes from across the region, competing in both track and field events. It spanned across two days, filled with exhilarating action where students demonstrated the power of passion, dedication and enthusiasm. ]

The standout feature of the competition was the impressive participation of students of Apeejay School, Model Town. The under-14 boys included  participants like Purneet Singh Parmar, Gaurang Chawla, Reyrith, Shivam, Angad Sandhu, and Kunwar Khushraaj Singh Bal showcasing their talents.

Remarkably, the competition was fierce but it was Kunwar Khushraaj Singh Bal who took the spotlight, securing his place in the Punjab School District Level Athletics Competition for his exceptional performance in the ‘Discus Throw event’. His remarkable dedication and skill truly set him apart.

In the under-17 boys category, athletes such as Gurshaan Singh, Aaditya Vikram, Pratik Kauldhar, Harman Deep, and Naitik wowed the crowd with their prowess on the field. A talented girl of the same age category, Sargun Kaur Bhogal, delivered an outstanding performance, setting a high standard for her fellow young female athletes.

The girls under-14 category also saw an impressive line-up of athletes from class VIII,  including Shivami, Arya Lakhanpal, Saanvi Mahajan, and Ravya Gupta, who exhibited their talents and determination in various events.

This competition wasn’t just about winning; it was also a celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork. The bond and camaraderie among the participants, as well as the unwavering support from their sports teacher Ms. Madhuri Lakhanpal highlighted the importance of these events in shaping the character of future athletes.

Truly, Apeejay School, Model Town proved their mettle in the said competition, leaving an indelible mark, setting a shining example for their peers. Apart from engaging in athletics, students in both the under 14 and under 17 age groups also took part in zonal and district-level badminton competitions, securing notable positions. Additionally, students have actively participated in district-level tournaments for chess, lawn tennis, and table tennis.
