Recently, a celebration of creativity and expression unfolded at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, as the school hosted the District Level Drama Competition. The event began on an auspicious note with the lighting of the ceremonial diya, symbolising knowledge and inspiration. A graceful dance performance on Devi Stuti set the tone for an afternoon steeped in artistry and emotion.

The occasion was graced by Ms Sriparna Sinha, Organising Secretary, SPE Zone 23 and 24, and Ms Rekha Rani, Cultural Secretary, Zone 23. An eminent panel of judges added depth and credibility to the event. It featured Ms Meeta Mishra, a distinguished National School of Drama alumna and recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Ustad Bismillah Khan Awards, and Mr Ankit Chaudhry, a noted Delhi-based actor and theatre expert.

A platform for young performers

Participants from various schools delivered compelling performances that reflected creativity, teamwork, and emotional depth. Each play brought unique narratives to life, showcasing the young actors’ talent and understanding of dramatic art.

In her address, Ms Sinha applauded the spirited performances and emphasised how theatre cultivates creativity, confidence, and collaboration among students. She noted that such platforms are vital for nurturing expressive and empathetic learners.

Echoing her sentiment, Ms Mishra encouraged students to explore theatre further as a medium to refine their acting skills and connect with audiences. She highlighted that drama not only entertains but also teaches discipline, empathy, and presence of mind.

A memorable cultural exchange

The competition was more than a contest; it was a vibrant exchange of ideas, emotions, and artistic expression. The event concluded on a note of encouragement and applause, leaving every participant motivated to keep exploring the world of drama with renewed passion.
