Flags often represent the cultural identity and the values of our nation. Having innate familiarity with flags is often linked to having geographical knowledge. For citizens, it is very important to understand the essence and the representation of not just their country’s flag but others as well. One such student is Taksh Chopra, a student of LKG, studying at Apeejay School, Tanda Road whose name has been registered in International Book of Records as theYoungest to identify and recite names of 50 countries flags in a 30 second’.
In a candid interview, Kamna Chopra, the mother talks about how her son has come a long way by practicing and reciting the names of the flags every day.
Who has been your son’s role model or inspiration?
I have always been his role model and the right source of inspiration. As a mother, I have come as the guiding light to him helping him come this ahead.
What was achievement about?
Taksh’s name topped the International Book of Records as the youngest individual who has identified and recited names of 50 country flags. For the same, he received a certificate and a medal.
How was his training routine structured?
It took nearly three months for Taksh to have come this far. At first, he began with identifying the flags on the computer. He used to practice daily. With continued practice, he broke the record of 1 minute 30 seconds and recited 50 country’s flag names in 30 seconds.
What is the one thing your son has followed diligently to achieve this award?
Dedication and consistency matters. My son always had a knack for flags and cars. He used to practise daily which has helped him achieve this feat. I am super proud of my son. At such a young age he has brought accolades to the family.

What is your son’s long-term goal?
As of now, he has learned the names of the flags of 100 countries and is aiming to participate in that.
What was the challenge that he faced and how was he able to overcome it?
Time constraints posed a challenge in the competition, where memorising country names was not just about recognition but also about speed. Taksh was able to overcome this challenge by speed speaking; it started with 90 seconds then improved 60 and finally, 30 seconds at the competition. I have always helped him grow and explore his talent. However, I also asked him to take a switch from computer screens to printed copies to learn the names, and pronunciation of the flags.
What are his favourite country flags?
There are many but to name a few, Taksh is easily able to pronounce and spell the most difficult ones, which are – Kazakhstan and Karajistan.
