
To honour the legacy of the late Smt Rajeshwari Paul, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, recently organised the Smt Rajeshwari Paul Jr 11th Inter-Apeejay Short Tennis Tournament. The three-day prestigious tournament saw enthusiastic participation from students of Classes I to V, representing various Apeejay sister schools across Delhi-NCR.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, paying tribute to Smt Rajeshwari Paul, First Lady of the Apeejay Stya Group and beloved wife of Founder-Chairman Dr Stya Paul. The atmosphere was filled with reverence as students performed a soulful shloka recitation, setting a positive and spiritual tone for the competition.
A platform for young tennis enthusiasts
Over three days, young participants engaged in thrilling matches, displaying agility, determination, and competitive spirit. The event not only encouraged physical fitness but also instilled in students the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.
The excitement reached its peak at the award ceremony, where the winners were recognised for their hard work and dedication. The school Principal, Ms Surabhi Joshi, along with the Vice-principal, presented the winners with medals and trophies, appreciating their outstanding performances. Addressing the gathering, Ms Joshi encouraged all the participants to continue honing their skills and emphasised the importance of consistent practice and unwavering dedication in sports.
According to Ms Neeta Dutta, the Primary In-charge, this tournament brings together young athletes, promoting sportsmanship, skill development, and community spirit. “It serves as a meaningful way to honour her contributions and her passion for nurturing talent. We firmly believe that extracurricular activities are crucial for the holistic development of children. They are essential in fostering physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth. Participation in sports, music, drama, or various clubs empowers children to build teamwork, develop leadership skills, and cultivate resilience,” she said
These experiences enhance creativity, elevate self-esteem, and improve time management, the educator added. “Beyond academic pursuits, engaging in extracurricular activities offers children the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new passions, and refine their problem-solving skills, ultimately contributing to the formation of well-rounded individuals prepared to succeed in diverse environments,” Ms Dutta shared.
