When the gates of Apeejay School, Saket opened for the Yogasana Zonal Championship 2025, the campus turned into a vibrant arena of discipline, poise, and youthful determination. For four consecutive days, students from nearly 25 reputed schools of Zone 23 came together to celebrate yoga not just as a sport but as a way of life. More than 500 participants competed in various categories, their dedication reflecting the growing role of yoga in modern education as a practice of body, mind, and spirit.

The school auditorium was transformed into a lively and aesthetically captivating venue, adorned with banners, artistic displays, and the rhythm of music. The championship began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by dignitaries and Principal Dr. Sujeet Eric Masih, accompanied by live music from student performers. This symbolic start, blending spirituality and culture, set the tone for the championship as both a competitive event and a celebration of values.

Day One: Team Yoga (Boys)
The championship opened with the boys’ team events, where coordination and strength were at the forefront. Teams across the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories displayed a rare blend of precision and stamina. The audience was particularly impressed by the synchronised sequences of the older groups, which combined maturity with technical finesse. With thunderous applause echoing across the hall, the first day set a high bar for the competitions ahead.

Day Two: The Artistic Turn

If the first day was about collective discipline, the second was about individuality and creativity. Students showcased yoga as an evolving art form through individual, artistic, and rhythmic categories. Participants impressed judges with graceful asanas, choreographed sequences, and rhythmic movements set to music. For many in the audience, it was an eye-opening experience, proof that yoga, while deeply traditional, can also adapt into dynamic artistic expressions.

Day Three: Team Yoga (Girls)

The third day saw the spotlight shift to the girls’ team competitions. Here, grace met strength in every posture. Under-14 teams radiated youthful energy, while the senior categories revealed years of training through their elegant transitions and composed stances. The synchronisation and harmony on display highlighted not just athletic ability but also teamwork, mutual trust, and perseverance.

Day Four: Grand Finale

The final day of the championship was no less than a celebration of talent. Individual brilliance and artistic mastery stole the show across different age categories. Particularly noteworthy were the performances in the Under-19 group, where students demonstrated a perfect balance of endurance, innovation, and maturity. The grand culmination left the audience inspired and the participants proud of their achievements.

The championship’s credibility was heightened by an accomplished panel of judges. Among them were Mr. Tinku, a yoga professional with national and international judging experience; Mr. Vikram Singh, a seasoned practitioner and mentor; Ms. Mrinal, a veteran educator with over two decades of contribution to yoga; and Mr. Naveen Prasad, a national-level player and instructor. Their expertise ensured not only fair evaluation but also meaningful feedback that encouraged participants to refine their practice further.

The event was further enriched by the presence of respected guests such as Mr. Kishor Deswal, Mr. Rohit Ghosh, Ms. Rekha Dahiya, and Ms. Niharika Phun, who offered support and guidance across the boys’ and girls’ competitions. Supervising the entire championship was Mr. Roshan Kumar from Chhatrasal Stadium, whose administrative acumen ensured that the event maintained the highest professional standards.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Anil Kumar, Deputy Director, South District, Directorate of Education, as the, and Guest of Honour Ms. Shriparna Sinha, SPE Zone 23. Both dignitaries underlined the importance of yoga as a lifelong discipline that nurtures resilience, balance, and focus, qualities essential in academics and life. Beyond Competition: Lessons for Life

While medals and rankings recognised outstanding performances, the championship’s deeper impact lay in the values it instilled. Yoga, as repeatedly emphasised by judges and guests, is not only about physical agility but also about patience, mindfulness, and inner strength. For students, the four-day journey became an experiential classroom, teaching lessons in discipline, teamwork, creativity, and self-confidence.

The event also highlighted the role of schools in nurturing holistic growth. By bringing together diverse students in a healthy spirit of competition, Apeejay School, Saket not only celebrated talent but also encouraged every child to carry forward the practice of yoga into daily life.
