A sweet beginning

On World Chocolate Day, chocoholics around the globe unite to celebrate the sweet sensation that has captivated our taste buds for centuries. But did you know that chocolate comes in a tantalising array of varieties, each offering a unique and delightful experience? From rich dark chocolates to creamy milk chocolates and exotic flavors and so much more.

Ms Komal Nathani, Principal of Apeejay School, Rhythms Kinderworld in Greater Kailash 2, is a big chocoholic. She believes that one must not say “no” to the heavenly world of chocolates; instead consciously choose the healthy options. She advises, “Dark chocolate is by far the healthiest form of the treat, containing the least sugar and is known to protect the body’s cells. It’s also good for the heart. So be it a chocolate fudge, chocolate pudding, chocolate chip cookies, brownies or cakes, make these delights healthier by using dark chocolates.” It is no wonder that she encourages chocolates among the tiny tots in her school, yet keeps a conscious check on the health quotient of the treats they consume.

Marking this day as special, Ms Nathani shares a quick yet healthy sweet recipe that one can enjoy on the World Chocolate Day:

Make Chocolate Makhana

1.      Heat ghee in a pan. Then add 1 cup of makhanas (fox nuts) and dry roast them on very low heat for 4-5 minutes until they are crisp. Keep stirring them in between so that the makhana doesn’t burn.

2.      To check if they are roasted properly just take one makhana in hand and crush it, if it breaks nicely with a crunching sound that means they are done perfectly. Now transfer makhana to a plate and let them cool.

3.      Take ¼ cup of any dark chocolate and cut it into small pieces in a microwave-safe bowl.

4.      Then microwave the bowl till the chocolate melts. It just takes 2 minutes. Stir the melted chocolate and add the roasted makhanas to it.

5.      Then mix well until makhanas are coated well with the chocolate. Sprinkle some chopped almonds for the crunch.

6.      Prepare a baking tray with butter paper. Transfer the chocolate makhanas to it and let it cool for some time. Chocolate makhanas are ready to be served. Enjoy!

Well, by now, you already must be having the urge to indulge in this chocolate delight. Then why not embark on a delicious journey to discover the diverse world of chocolate?

Indulge in the Dark Side: For those with a penchant for intense flavors, dark chocolate is an exquisite choice. With a higher percentage of cocoa solids and less sugar, dark chocolate offers a sophisticated and nuanced taste. Ranging from 70% to 90% cocoa content, it delights with its deep, robust flavors and a hint of natural bitterness. From velvety smooth bars to delectable truffles, dark chocolate is a favorite among connoisseurs who appreciate the complex notes and health benefits it provides.

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Milk Chocolates: When it comes to smooth, creamy bliss, milk chocolate reigns supreme. Combining cocoa solids with milk and sugar, this variety boasts a luscious, velvety texture that melts on the tongue. Milk chocolate is beloved for its sweet, comforting taste and its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia. Whether in the form of classic chocolate bars, irresistible bonbons, or delightful milk chocolate-covered treats, this variety is a crowd-pleaser that never fails to satisfy.

Exploring Exotic Flavors: In recent years, chocolate has taken on a whole new dimension, with artisans and chocolatiers crafting imaginative flavor combinations that push the boundaries of taste. From zesty citrus infusions to fiery chili spice, salted caramel to aromatic lavender, the world of flavored chocolates is a playground for adventurous palates. These innovative creations cater to young, adventurous readers who seek unexpected and delightful flavor experiences.

Decadent White Chocolate: While it may not technically contain cocoa solids, white chocolate has carved its own niche in the chocolate world. Made from cocoa butter, sugar, and milk, it boasts a velvety texture and a rich, creamy taste. White chocolate delights with its delicate sweetness and pairs beautifully with fruits, nuts, and other complementary flavors. From elegant white chocolate truffles to dreamy white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, this variety offers a luxurious and indulgent experience.
