Apeejay School, Noida, recently organised a workshop on the Citizen Feedback Drive as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India. The event was held at the school auditorium with the aim to educate the students of classes 9 to 12 about the importance of cleanliness, garbage segregation, and the elimination of single-use plastic to make Noida the cleanest and garbage-free city.

The session was delivered by Mr. Mohit from the Public Health Department of Noida Authority. The event began with a warm and green welcome extended by Ms. Ritu Kohli, Principal of Apeejay School, Noida. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the significance of environmental sustainability and encouraged students to actively participate in initiatives aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier community.

During the session, Mr. Mohit presented the history and progress of the Citizen Feedback Drive. He also shared some valuable insights into the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and how it aligns with the government’s vision to promote cleanliness and sanitation across the nation.

Proudly, Mr. Mohit emphasised that Noida has achieved the topmost rank as the cleanest and garbage-free city, setting an example for other regions to follow suit. He attributed this remarkable success to the collective efforts of citizens and the efficient waste management systems implemented by Noida Authority.

Mr. Mohit stressed the importance of properly segregating waste into recyclables and non-recyclables, as this plays a vital role in reducing the burden on landfills and minimising environmental degradation. Moreover, he highlighted the need for a “no tolerance” policy towards single-use plastic, emphasising its harmful impact on the environment.

Further, an interactive Question & Answer session was held allowing students to raise concerns and seek clarifications on various waste management techniques and sustainable practices. Mr. Mohit addressed their queries with enthusiasm, encouraging them to take a proactive role in the cleanliness drive.

Overall, the workshop succeeded in creating a strong sense of responsibility among the students, inspiring them to become active participants in the Swachh Bharat Mission. They left the auditorium with a renewed commitment to spreading awareness and implementing eco-friendly practices in their immediate surroundings.
