Wonderland: Poem by Jasmilan Kaur, AIMETC

Here, in these pleasant,breezy meadows,

Amidst sprightly flowers and dewy grass,

Enveloped in joy as the tittering wind flows,

I’ll rejoice and relax as long as this lasts.

I’ll close my eyes and wait for an eternity-

A mirthful eternity of joy and laughter,

With a smile on my lips, I deeply breathe,

For now I am at home; this journey is brighter.

I spread my hands wide, I throw my head back,

I’m taking flight, soaring higher than I ever have,

There is nothing to worry about,nothing I lack,

Come here, together lets walk this happy land.

I’m traversing this sunlit and vibrant field,

Amazed by my surroundings-so serene!

I’m staying here as long as I’m wholly healed,

Evading the gloom, I’m far from where I’ve been.

This ceaseless wish of a reviving respite,

Far away from the merry lands of eternal bliss,

A hope of freedom to help my spirits ignite,

In my mind,is ever so often a welcome memory.

I stroll in ecstasy, rejoicing at this sublimity,

For it is but so rare an occurrence for me,

Breathing in hope,courage and alacrity,

This is my wonderland to where I often flee.
