Harsh Gupta is working as a Business Development Manager at Hike Education, one of the leading Ed-tech companies working with the top B-schools to support and assist the students. He has studied B.Com Honours from Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, and aspires to grow fast in this field. In a quick interview, Harsh elaborates upon the support received from the placement cell at his alma mater and gives some words of wisdom for the current batch of students. Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about your job experience? Is it fulfilling?

The overall experience has been very good so far. I am enjoying my job and all the work associated with it. My colleagues have also been very supportive and so has been my company. I am doing well and am focused on the targets in mind.

Any particular inspiration behind choosing this field?

It came naturally to me. My goals aligned well with the course, B. Com Honours, that I opted for. And I am happy to start my career with this great job opportunity presented to me by the college. When it came, I simply grabbed this chance with both hands.

Did the placement cell groom you well?

Absolutely! They guided me at every stage of the interview and were very supportive. They taught me how to conduct myself in an interview and how to prepare a good professional resume or CV. I also learnt the correct etiquette of communication in group discussions.

Was your course in sync with your ambitions?

B Com Honours was a very informative course. It was more hands-on than what I had imagined. It required us to get practical experience through internships. This in turn helped me find what I was interested in. The faculty gave us contacts of professionals in this field. We also had regular seminars where professionals came and counselled us.

So, where do we see you in the next five years?

Hopefully at a top firm in a senior managerial position.

Finally, your word of advice for the current students

Be consistent; without consistency, nothing you do is worth the effort.
