The Departments of Business Analytics and Operations Management at Apeejay School of Management (ASM) in Dwarka recently hosted a comprehensive 3-hour Management Development Programme (MDP) on ‘Data Analytics using Excel, R, and Python’.This event proved to be a transformative learning experience for practitioners, academicians, research scholars, and students. The programme delved into the intricacies of data analytics, offering hands-on exposure to essential tools indispensable for research and business decision-making.

Dr. Shalini Vermani, Associate Professor and Area Chair of Business Analytics, led the session on Excel. She emphasised the practical relevance of the programme, stating, “Our goal was to equip participants with actionable skills in data manipulation and visualisation, which are critical in today’s data-driven environment.” Dr. Vermani’s session covered advanced features such as Lookups, Pivot Charts, and Dynamic Dashboards, providing participants with robust techniques to manage and visualize data efficiently.

Dr. Pragya Arya, Assistant Professor and Area Chair of Operations Management, conducted the session on R. She demystified the use of R, making it accessible to everyone regardless of their prior experience. “R is a powerful tool for statistical analysis and visualisation,” noted Dr. Arya. Her session guided attendees through the installation of R, understanding data types, and performing exploratory data analysis, making complex concepts easy to grasp and apply.

Dr. Vernika Agarwal, Associate Professor of Business Analytics and Operations Management, led the Python session. She remarked, “Python’s versatility makes it a cornerstone in Data Analytics. Our hands-on approach ensured that participants could confidently apply Python to their data projects.” Dr. Agarwal’s session focused on setting up IntelliJ IDEA, data manipulation with Pandas, and basic data analysis techniques, providing participants with a solid foundation in using Python for data analytics.

Participants from India and abroad attended the MDP, benefiting from practical exercises in data exploration, visualization, and modeling. The programme’s structure allowed attendees to engage actively with the content and apply what they learned immediately. The interactive nature of the sessions, coupled with the expertise of the trainers, ensured a rich learning experience.

Feedback from participants highlighted the programme’s significant impact. Dr. Zoubida shared, “The MDP provided me with practical skills that I could immediately apply in my work. The trainers were incredibly knowledgeable and approachable.” Another participant, Mr. Dhruv, commented, “The sessions were well-structured and highly interactive, making complex topics easy to understand.”

Overall, the Management Development Programme on ‘Data Analytics using Excel, R, and Python’ at Apeejay School of Management was a resounding success.
