Wherever there is Krishna, there is love, joy, and the sweet melody of life

Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, came alive with devotion, music, and vibrant colours as the young learners celebrated the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, with great zeal and joy. The event was a beautiful blend of spirituality, creativity, and cultural expression, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing values alongside learning.

The celebration began with an atmosphere charged with divine energy. The school premises were decorated with colourful streamers, flowers, and images depicting scenes from Krishna’s childhood — stealing butter, playing the flute, and dancing with the gopis. The students, dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha, brought these images to life. Their charming attire, complete with flutes, turbans, jewellery, and vibrant lehengas, added a magical touch to the occasion. The sight of these young devotees filled the hearts of teachers, parents, and peers with delight.

A highlight of the day was the soulful rendition of bhajans by the students. Their innocent yet heartfelt voices echoed through the halls, creating a serene and uplifting ambience. The devotional songs, sung with pure sincerity, not only celebrated the glory of Lord Krishna but also connected the children to the rich spiritual heritage of India. Teachers guided the students through the meanings of the bhajans, helping them appreciate the values of love, kindness, and humility that Lord Krishna embodied.

Adding to the festive charm was the much-anticipated Creative Headgear Activity. Each child designed and decorated their crown, a mukut, adorned with the symbolic peacock feather. With paints, glitter, sequins, and coloured paper, the young learners poured their creativity into their headpieces, making each one unique. The activity was more than just an art exercise; it encouraged imagination, fine motor skills, and an appreciation for cultural symbols.

Throughout the day, the festivities were interwoven with storytelling sessions about Lord Krishna’s playful and divine deeds — from his days in Gokul to the teachings in The Bhagavad Gita. These stories, narrated interactively, helped students connect with the moral lessons embedded in Lord Krishna’s life — courage, friendship, devotion, and the triumph of good over evil.

The celebration was not only a cultural showcase but also a platform for instilling important values in the young learners. The teachers ensured that every child felt included and understood the significance of Janmashtami beyond its rituals.

The Janmashtami programme at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, concluded with the children, adorned in their handmade crowns, singing and dancing together, spreading smiles all around.
