The Finance Club of Apeejay School of Management, FINASTRA successfully organised an intellectually stimulating and application-oriented activity titled “FIN-FRAUD DETECTIVE – Where Finance Meets Investigation!”.
The activity was conceptualised to bridge theoretical finance concepts with practical investigative skills, enabling students to experience real-world financial fraud detection scenarios. It was a team-based investigative simulation designed to replicate real-world financial fraud detection challenges. Both finance and non-finance students actively engaged in discussions, analysis, and collaborative problem-solving.
Participants were provided with a fictional company profile along with a set of deliberately manipulated financial documents. Students applied the knowledge of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and logical reasoning & judgement. By blending finance with investigative thinking, the event created an engaging learning environment that promoted experiential and practical understanding. The smooth coordination by the Finance Club members and the dedicated efforts of student volunteers ensured effective execution and sustained enthusiasm during the event.
Fin-fraud detectives proved to be a highly successful and impactful activity. It not only strengthened students’ financial analysis skills but also introduced them to the importance of forensic accounting and ethical vigilance in the corporate world. The event reinforced Finastra’s commitment to delivering innovative, industry-relevant learning experiences beyond the classroom.

The winners of the event were Pradeep & Lakshay who bagged the 1st prize and the 2nd prize was won by Ritik & Lekh.
Winner Lakshay, a PGDM student from the Batch 2025-27 said, “The activity was both challenging and exciting. Analyzing financial statements and uncovering hidden fraud indicators pushed us to think deeper and work effectively as a team. It was a great learning experience that enhanced our understanding of forensic finance.”
Sharing her thoughts, Sukriti Jain, President, FINASTRA Club, PGDM Batch 2024-26, mentioned, “Fin-fraud detectives provided an excellent platform for students to apply financial concepts in a practical and analytical manner. It was encouraging to see participants think critically, analyse financial data, and collaboratively identify red flags. Such activities help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world financial applications.”
