Shopping is no longer limited to scrolling through websites or visiting malls. A fast-growing trend called live stream shopping is transforming the way people discover and buy products—especially among young, tech-savvy audiences. Blending live video, social media, and e-commerce, live stream shopping allows hosts to showcase products in real time while viewers interact, ask questions, and make instant purchases. Think of it as shopping meets entertainment.
Popular on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and dedicated e-commerce apps, live stream shopping creates a more engaging and trustworthy experience. Viewers can see products being used, styled, or tested live, reducing uncertainty and making shopping more personal. Flash discounts, limited-time offers, and real-time interaction add excitement and urgency, keeping audiences hooked.
“For school and college students, live stream shopping is more than just a trend—it’s a career opportunity. The industry combines skills from multiple fields such as marketing, technology, communication, design, and business. Students interested in content creation can become live stream hosts, product reviewers, or influencers who collaborate with brands. Those who enjoy being behind the scenes can explore roles in production, scripting, video editing, and live stream management,” explains Abhishekh Konwar, an alumni from Apeejay School, Kharghar.
“There is also strong scope for students inclined towards business and entrepreneurship. Many young entrepreneurs are using live streams to promote their own small businesses—selling handmade products, clothing, art, or gadgets directly to customers without needing a physical store. Understanding audience behaviour, digital branding, and online sales strategies gives students a competitive edge in the modern marketplace,” he said in conclusion.
