Apeejay School, Faridabad alumna Khushi Singh (Batch 2020) is carving an inspiring path in the media and brand marketing world. Currently working as an Assistant Manager – Marketing at NDTV, she oversees marketing and communications for six major news channels — NDTV 24×7, NDTV India, NDTV Profit, NDTV Marathi, NDTV Madhya Pradesh and NDTV Rajasthan. Her journey from studying Economics to thriving in media reflects her passion, adaptability and strong foundation built at school.

Read edited excerpts:

Khushi, tell us about your current role and what drives you at NDTV.
I work in the NDTV Noida office and handle a wide scope of responsibilities — public relations, brand marketing, corporate communications, B2C marketing, trade promotions and events. It’s hectic but extremely rewarding! Every week brings something new — from meeting celebrities and engaging with politicians to adapting to breaking news demands.

You shifted from Economics to the media industry. How did that transition unfold?
Honestly, it was unexpected but exciting. Most Economics graduates move to banking or finance. But I have always had a deep interest in politics since school. I wanted a career that blended storytelling, public engagement and national issues. Media marketing turned out to be the perfect intersection of all three!

Media jobs are known for odd hours. How do you balance work and life?
Workdays can easily stretch to 14–15 hours and at times, a breaking news update at 2 AM means rushing back to the office. But you develop your tribe at work — colleagues become family. And slowly, you learn to create your own balance. Though yes, my daily commute from Faridabad to Noida takes 3–4 hours round trip!

What qualities or values from Apeejay School, Faridabad have shaped you the most?
Everything! I studied at Apeejay for 14 years; from nursery to Class 12. The school taught me leadership through the Student Council in Class 11, teamwork, and confidence to speak up. Our then Principal was more than an administrator — she inspired discipline, consistency and curiosity. Whenever I face challenges today, I recall the life lessons my teachers instilled in me.

What advice would you give students who want to build a career in marketing and media?
Two things:
• Live every school moment — friendships, classes, all of it! These memories will shape you in ways you realise only later.
• In marketing, empathy is your superpower. Understand your audience deeply. It’s not just selling — it’s storytelling. Tell the story the consumer wants to hear.
